What Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder does

Adds water-binding hydration to formulas
Helps soothe and calm the skin
Gives a light, smooth, non-greasy feel

Aloe vera is a succulent plant with thick leaves full of clear, gel-like pulp. The juice from the inner leaf is dried into a fine powder. This makes it easy to store and add to formulas without the water content of fresh juice.

Formulators use it for its natural polysaccharides, plant sugar chains that bind water and help a product feel hydrating. It is usually added to the water part of a formula, where it dissolves and gives a light, slippery, non-greasy feel. That is why it appears in lotions, shampoos, cleansers and self tan products.

Good for

Good for people who want a light, hydrating boost in everyday lotions, shampoos and cleansers, especially those with dry skin.

Frequently asked questions

Is aloe vera powder the same as aloe gel?

They come from the same plant. The powder is the juice dried down, so it keeps longer and is easy to measure into a formula. Gel is the fresher, wetter form. Both are used to hydrate and soothe.

Does aloe vera powder help with dry skin?

It is used in lotions for its hydrating feel. It helps hold water in the skin's surface, so skin can feel softer. It works best alongside a moisturizer, since it does not form a heavy protective layer.
