Also listed as: Argan Oil
Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil is a plant oil pressed from argan tree kernels. It mainly softens and smooths skin and hair. It is on the label of 42 products in our library. Checked against our library November 6, 2026.
Argan oil comes from the argan tree, which grows mainly in southwest Morocco. The tree's fruit holds a hard inner kernel, and the oil is pressed from these kernels. It is rich in fatty acids, mainly oleic and linoleic, and it contains vitamin E, which helps protect the oil from going stale.
Formulators use it because it is an emollient, a word for ingredients that soften and smooth. In hair products, it reduces friction and makes strands easier to comb. On skin, it leaves a soft, non-sticky feel. You will find it in shampoos, conditioners, hair oils, mascara and beard products.
Good for
Suits dry, frizzy or dull hair, dry skin, and anyone who wants a light oil that feels smooth.
Yes. Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil is the formal INCI name for argan oil. INCI is the standard naming system for cosmetic ingredients. Both names point to the same oil, pressed from the kernels of the argan tree.
It depends on the product and how much you use. Even a light oil can weigh fine hair down if too much is left on. Start with a small amount, and focus on the lengths and ends rather than the roots.
